Sundar Pichai Donates $4 Million To Refugee Causes After Trump’s Travel Ban

We all know that Donald Trump announced new rules to suspend refugee arrivals and forced tough new controls on travelers from seven Muslim countries (Iran, Iraq, Syria and Sudan. Libya, Yemen, and Somalia)

Many tech leaders had already broken their silence and came out in support of their employees. We have seen Google CEO Sundar Pichai criticized Donald Trump’s new rules by saying that it will create “barriers” to bring great talent to the US.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai even ordered more than 100 employees who are traveling overseas to return to the US. It’s being said that Donald Trump’s immigration ban affected 200 Google employees.

Recently, Sundar Pichai raised $4 million and donated it to support refugee causes. Out of $4 million, Sundar Pichai himself gave $2 million and asked his staff to match his donation, meaning the organization will have donated $4 million to charity after Donald Trump’s travel ban rules.

Google CEO, Sundar Pichai said that the company would give the funds to American Civil Liberties Union, The Immigrant Legal Resource Center, The International Rescue Committee, and the UNHCR.

According to USA Today, it was Google’s largest ‘humanitarian campaign’ to date. Sundar Pichai simply configured the crisis fund just after the announcement which he stated in an internal memo to his employees after he had probed Trump’s ban in another memo over the weekend.
